These Terms & Conditions apply to all purchases made through Studio Amanda Alderson.
1. Scope
These Terms apply to:
• Ready to Collect artworks
• Personalised Editions
• Bespoke Commissions
By purchasing from the studio, you agree to these Terms & Conditions.
2. Quotations
Written quotations remain valid for 30 days unless otherwise stated.
Prices may change after this period due to fluctuations in precious metal prices, gemstone availability or supplier costs.
3. Deposits
Personalised Editions require a 25% deposit.
Bespoke Commissions generally require a 50% deposit.
Work does not commence until the required deposit has been received.
Deposits secure studio time, artistic development and project scheduling.
4. Payment
The remaining balance is payable before shipment or collection unless otherwise agreed in writing.
Ownership of the artwork transfers upon receipt of full payment.
5. Artistic Interpretation
Personalised Editions and Bespoke Commissions are based upon artistic interpretation rather than customer-directed design.
The collector provides inspiration, observations and practical information.
The artist retains responsibility for all creative decisions including composition, scale, proportion, construction, materials and final artistic resolution.
6. Design Changes
Requests for significant changes after a quotation has been accepted, or after making has commenced, may require a revised quotation, additional costs or a new commission pathway.
Some changes may not be technically possible once fabrication has begun.
7. Progress Updates
Progress photographs may be shared during making at the artist’s discretion.
These images are intended to share the creative process and are not provided as formal approval stages unless otherwise agreed.
8. Handmade Variation
Every artwork is individually handcrafted.
Subtle variations in texture, finish, dimensions, surface detail and the natural characteristics of gemstones are an inherent part of handmade contemporary jewellery.
These variations contribute to the individuality of each work and are not considered faults.
9. Condition Assessment
Should an artwork require repair or maintenance, the studio will first undertake a condition assessment before recommending an appropriate course of action.
This assessment considers the artwork’s construction, evidence of normal wear, accidental damage, previous repairs and any other factors relevant to its ongoing care.
10. Cancellation
Orders may be cancelled before artistic development or fabrication has commenced.
Once artistic development, design work or fabrication has begun, deposits are generally non-refundable, except where required under Australian Consumer Law.
11. Returns
Ready to Collect artworks may be returned in accordance with Australian Consumer Law.
Personalised Editions and Bespoke Commissions are created specifically for an individual collector and are therefore not eligible for change-of-mind returns.
This does not affect your statutory rights under Australian Consumer Law.
12. Care, Repairs & Maintenance
Jewellery is intended to be worn and enjoyed. As with all treasured objects, normal wear, accidental damage and the passing of time may occasionally require maintenance or repair.
If your artwork requires attention, please contact the studio before arranging any repairs elsewhere.
Every repair begins with a condition assessment. This allows the studio to understand how the piece has been worn, identify any maintenance required and recommend the most appropriate repair or conservation options.
Where a manufacturing fault is identified, repairs will be carried out at no cost to the collector.
Repairs resulting from normal wear, accidental damage, impact, stone loss or general maintenance are assessed individually and quoted before work begins.
Repair services are offered at the studio’s discretion, subject to the nature of the work, the condition of the piece and current studio capacity.
Unauthorised repairs or alterations undertaken by another jeweller may void any workmanship obligations relating to the original piece.
13. Jewellery Care
Collectors are responsible for the ongoing care of their jewellery.
Care instructions accompany each artwork.
Periodic maintenance is recommended for pieces worn regularly.
14. Intellectual Property
All artworks, sketches, concept drawings, journals, commission methodologies, photographs, written material and creative development remain the intellectual property of Amanda Alderson unless otherwise agreed in writing.
The artist retains copyright over the artwork, in accordance with Australian Copyright Law.
The purchase of an artwork does not transfer copyright.
The artist retains the right to photograph completed works and use images for exhibitions, publications, teaching, grant applications, portfolios, websites and promotional purposes unless confidentiality has been agreed in writing.
15. Limitation of Liability
To the extent permitted by law, the studio’s liability is limited to remedies available under Australian Consumer Law.
16. Governing Law
These Terms & Conditions are governed by the laws of Western Australia and Australia.
17. Australian Consumer Law
Nothing in these Terms excludes, restricts or modifies any rights or remedies available under the Australian Consumer Law.
Where goods fail to meet consumer guarantees, remedies will be provided in accordance with applicable legislation.
